BOOK TICKETS TO ROSSINI: trybooking.com/DGKZU

Experience the unique charm of Gioachino Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in its original, intimate scoring for choir, soloists, two pianos and harmonium, directed by Aldis Sils.

Rossini composed the sacred masterpiece in 1863 (34 years after retiring from comic opera), bringing his operatic brilliance to the sacred realm. The reduced instrumentation creates a distinctive, lush sound that complements the choral voices in an unexpected way, blending operatic richness with a chamber-like intimacy.

True to Rossini’s wit, the work is neither “petite”, or small, nor solemn. It features all of the movements of a Missa Solemnis and is peppered with memorable melodies, dramatic crescendos and rhythmic vitality.

The concert will feature soloists Deborah Johnson (Soprano), Emma Woehle (Alto), Jiacheng Ding (Tenor) and Jeremy Tatchell (Bass) and an ensemble with Jamie Cock (piano) and Nerissa Pearce (piano).

Tickets: $49 Full, $45 Concession, $20 Under 30/student
