80th St John Carols by Candlelight

Saturday 13 December 8.30pm, Elder Park, Adelaide

We were excited to once again provide singers for the Adelaide Carols by Candlelight Choir! Over 30 members of Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus sang their hearts out to help this major local event bring joy to all who attended or watched the broadcast.

We love being part of this wonderful Adelaide tradition full of popular Christmas carols and songs and seasonal cheer at at Elder Park. Details on the program can be found at adelaidecarols.com.au

The show was on television all around Australia on Sunday 14 December on 7two and 7Plus, and highlights will be broadcast on Christmas Day on Channel Seven.

ROSSINI Petite Messe Solennelle: The choir was delighted to present this remarkable piece in its original scoring with two pianos and harmonium on 15 November 2025 at Elder Hall to critical acclaim.

Vocal Workshop: Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus held a very successful Vocal Workshop on 18 October 2025 at Cynthia Poulton Hall. Led by our conductor, Aldis Sils, and pianist, Nerissa Pearce, the workshop covered vocal techniques and rewarded attendees who were choral singers and those curious to become one.

Winter Magnificence concert delivers just that: The choir was thrilled to present John Rutter’s Magnificat and the Australian premiere of Valts Puce Psalm Notebook on the final day to winter, 31 August 2025, at Elder Hall to much acclaim.

Mozart concert a success! A near-capacity audience responded with warm enthusiasm to the creative talent on show at the choir’s Magical Mozart concert on 5 April 2025 at Elder Hall. Choir members Robyn Cornish-Hall, Chany Hoffman, Mary Tatchell, Bec Nelson and Ian Brown performed with distinction in excerpts from Mozart operas and as soloists in the Solemn Vespers. A choir of more than 70 singers and soloists Brooke Window, Victoria Coxhill and Kim Worley brought rich sound and many highlights to their performance of Mozart’s C minor Mass. Instrumentalists from the Adelaide Concert Orchestra provided strong support to the singers, all under the direction of Aldis Sils. It was a thrilling evening of musical magic!
