ConcertsSaturday, March 15, 2008 The Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus will perform John Stainer’s Crucifixion on Saturday, March 15, at 6.30pm in St. Peters Cathedral, North Adelaide. The Chorus will be conducted by Aldis Sils with soloists Robert McFarlane (tenor) and Lachlan Scott (bass) with Peter Kelsall as the organist. John Stainer was knighted by Queen Victoria for his services to music as a composer, music educator and researcher, and is remembered mainly for this major work. CrucifixionI> continues to be a favourite of church and professional choirs, particularly in the UK. The music is noted for its melodic lines and includes well loved hymns and the anthem, God So Loved the World. Join the Chorus for this inspirational beginning to the Easter Festival.
