Alexander Hanysz

Accompanist

Alexander Hanysz'Playing of the highest calibre ... refined, balanced and assured' – 'a distinct stamp of quality' is how critics described Alexander Hanysz's performances recently. As one of Australia's most dynamic emerging artists, Alexander has performed around the country and recorded for ABC Classic FM and for MBS radio in several states. He has also appeared as soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.K.

In Adelaide, Alexander has collaborated in concert with artists such as Thomas Edmonds, Elizabeth Campbell and Nicholas Milton. He is a busy accompanist and repetiteur for the State Opera of S.A, the Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus and Co*Opera, and was a repetiteur for Wagner's Ring cycle in 2004. As well as his many solo engagements, including concerts for Recitals Australia and Chamber Music Queensland, Alexander recently gave the South Australian premiere of John Adams' piano concerto with the Adelaide Art Orchestra, and appeared as a finalist in the Australian National Piano Award.

Alexander is a graduate of the Flinders Street School of Music, and has participated in masterclasses with Jeremy Menuhin, Roy Howat and Michael Kieran Harvey. An Adelaide University Medallist, his numerous prizes include the Edith Leigh Piano Prize (Cambridge), the Geoffrey Parsons Award at the Barossa International Festival, and the Adelaide Eisteddfod concerto prize.
